Summer Associate Life Cycle
At Kilpatrick Stockton, our most important asset is our people, which means that from day one as a Summer Associate you start real training. The firms requires participation in departmental training sessions throughout the Summer Associate program, and also provides extensive opportunities for informal training in such areas as business etiquette, research, legal writing and due diligence.
The following provides an outline of the life cycle for a Summer Associate, from your on campus interview as a 2L, to your first day as a Kilpatrick Stockton First-year Associate:
2L
August/September
- On Campus Interview
September/October
- Callback to the Office for interview with approximately 5-7 attorneys
- Go out to dinner the night before. In Atlanta, the dinner takes place at an attorney's house, in other offices it is at a restaurant.
- Callback includes: breakfast meeting with summer chair and recruiting coordinator, interviews in attorney's offices, then lunch
- Offer extended via phone
- Offer letter sent
December
- Offer accepted by December 1
- Receive exams study gift
March/April
- Receive information regarding summer program
May/June
- Summer Program starts
- Orientation for first two days
- First day lunch with mentor
- Kickoff event in the evening during first week
- Associates Dinner - Dinner with just the Associates
- Dinner party at Partner's homes
- Legal Writing Seminar in Atlanta (all summers from all offices are invited)
- Summer Associate Retreat
- KS Softball games after work
- Community Service and Pro Bono Projects
- Farewell Party during final week
July/August
- Offers for full time employment given shortly after the program ends
- Back to school to finish final year
- Play a role in the Kilpatrick Stockton recruiting process on your campus

- Graduation
