Kilpatrick Stockton's Corporate Department has been a leader in the field of corporate, securities and mergers and acquisitions law for almost 100 years. Corporate Group attorneys practice in the areas of general business transactions, and also specialize in Mergers and Acquisitions, Securities, International Transactions and Technology, helping businesses across the globe–ranging in size from Fortune-500 giants to smaller start-ups–navigate the complex legal terrain of 21st century business. Corporate attorneys specializing in employee benefits issues also advise clients on issues ranging from compensation to insurance to ERISA regulations and counsel businesses on pension plan investment structures and tax issues.
The Corporate Department offers the opportunity for Associates to build a successful legal career within a practice that's extensive, sophisticated and international. Despite the size of the group or its clients, personalized involvement and hands-on mentoring is key to interaction within this group–a benefit that offers Summer and First-year Associates the opportunity to gain unique insight from highly involved mentors.
Learning opportunities in the Corporate Department abound. Associates are exposed first hand to wide-ranging projects, participate in transactional matters on a variety of levels, and may even engage in direct client contact–always guided by Senior Associates and Partners who are invested in insuring that Associates are given every support needed to succeed. Finance and Real Estate
With offices throughout the country, including financial centers such as Atlanta, Charlotte and New York, Kilpatrick Stockton's Finance and Real Estate Department offers a variety of services–and exciting opportunities for new Associates–that stretch beyond the drafting of loan documents.
Attorneys in the Financial and Real Estate groups serve clients inside and outside the real estate and financial industries, offering expertise in the areas of acquisition, development, zoning and entitlement, ownership, management, and leasing and capital formation on the real estate side. Attorneys in this practice also serve corporate and commercial financial clients with transactions, commercial mortgage-backed securities transactions, and public finance transactions.
First-year, and even Summer Associates are afforded opportunities to explore a uniquely wide range of law types in both the Financial and Real Estate sectors. Intellectual Property
Among the firm's largest and most renowned practices, the Intellectual Property Department at Kilpatrick Stockton consists of nearly 100 attorneys specializing in patent (biotech/chemical, mechanical, software/electrical, and engineering), trademark (international and U.S.), copyright, and entertainment law. Our IP attorneys in this practice are dedicated to the consultation and litigation of property issues and asset management concerns for companies the world over. Intellectual Property provides the opportunity to build a practice in one of the most exciting and dynamic areas of law. Summer Associates in IP are regularly exposed to projects in each of the practice's varied disciplines to help provide a comprehensive understanding of the possibilities available under the IP "umbrella." First-year Associates begin their practice in one of the key areas, and are given the opportunity to participate in substantive work under the guidance of mentors within the group. Litigation
With over 100 litigators with experience in state and federal courts and arbitrations around the world, the Kilpatrick Stockton Litigation Department represents clients in every area of business, from white-collar criminal investigations to state and federal personal injury actions. This practice's focus is principally commercial litigation, and our attorneys serve corporations in industries from technology to construction, food service to manufacturing, and nearly everything between. Although the majority of our practice deals with complex business litigation, we also house litigation groups with more specialized foci. Our labor and employment litigators represent management in cases ranging from wrongful discharge and discrimination to the investigation and litigation of sexual harassment claims. Yet another team focuses on the issues surrounding financial restructuring, including bankruptcy negotiations and litigation.
With variety comes a need for adaptability. Whatever their specialty, Litigation attorneys are inquisitive, detail-oriented, highly organized, swift learners, and, importantly, adept at communication, with outstanding written and verbal skills.
